Travis' Story
Travis with his wife Crista and three children, were missionaries to Morocco having just returned to the U.S. when we met him almost two years ago. Travis was a storyteller. It was his treasuring of the Bible, its beautiful story of transforming love and his passion for connecting with people that led him to the study of Linguistics and opened doors for his Bible translation work in North Africa.
Travis, age 42, passed away on June 4, 2023 after a 21-month battle with glioblastoma, a very aggressive brain cancer. Throughout his cancer journey, he lived every day loving God, his family and others. Travis was a treasured member of the Bend, Oregon chapter of Cancer with Compassion. He attended support group meetings up to his death. We loved him. He loved us. We prayed for him. He prayed for us. We valued every minute we had with Travis.
This month Cancer with Compassion features the lives of those on a cancer journey, both those still living and like Travis, who have run their race well and are in the presence of the Lord.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me ..."
